After years of exhaustive fact-finding, writer Jeremy Edward Shiok retraced the World War II tour of duty of his grandfather through Pacific islands forever changed by the conflict.
Shiok spent the summer of 2010 exploring American Samoa, Wallis & Futuna, Abemama and Tarawa in search of answers no archives can provide. Now he's writing a book about the experience.
